So all in all its been a great year for me in 2009 - I have recently performed for Sir Alex Ferguson at the Manchester Utd FC Christmas Party which was fantastic, and I must say, even though (i probably shouldnt admit
this) I am a HUGE Liverpool FC Supporter and was actually considering singing "you'll never walk alone" It was a real pleasure to perform there for them. Many thanks to Rene.
I spent much of the summer flying back and forth from Corfu, performing some nights over there, which again was one of my favourite experiences, I met so many amazing people - so thanks to all you guys that made it so special.
I performed at Penwortham Gala, sang for Vince Cable and of course the Yo Sushi man himself - Simon Woodrough!
Part 1 The Bungee Jump
A SINGER from Southport is doing a bungy jump dressed as Amy Winehouse to raise money for a children’s charity.
Paula Delaney, 23, performs as the Rehab star as part of a tribute act, and is about to don her trademark beehive
and tattoos for a series of daredevil jumps. The singer, who moved from Scarisbrick to Carnforth in Lancashire two years ago, decided to raise money for the charity after her partner’s friend Paul Askew, lost a son to cerebral palsy. She said: “Rainbow House is a charity near to where me and my partner live. "The charity looks after children with different conditions including cerebral palsy so I wanted to raise some money for them. It’s only a small charity and I’ve supported them before.”The former Greenbank pupil’s first jump will be from a crane in Carnforth on May 25. She is then aiming to complete a base jump (a parachute jump from the top of a tall building) and a parachute jump from a plane to raise further funds.Paula, who has performed in Southport many times, is taking time out from her career as a singer to complete the stunts. She said: “I’m currently putting an album together and I gig all over Europe. I do my own songs and covers as well." Paula also organises charity events because she said "it’s good to give something back. I’m scared about doing these jumps but I’m sure I’ll be alright.”Anyone wanting to see Paula complete her first Amy Winehouse jump can go along to Carnforth Inn, in Carnforth on May 25 at 12pm.Rainbow House recently launched a crisis appeal for emergancy funding. Facilities at the centre could be forced to close if enough cash isn’t raised.People wanting to sponsor Paula can make a donation directly to Rainbow House at www.justgiving.com/rainbowhouse or by calling 01704-823276.For further information about Rainbow House, go to www.thelegacy-rainbowhouse.com.
Part 1 - The Bungee Jump Completed
A SOUTHPORT singer has overcome her fear of heights to complete a bungee jump dressed as Amy Winehouse.Paula Delaney carried out the daring 200ft leap to raise funds for childrens’ charity The Legacy Rainbow House. And the 23-year-old former Greenbank pupil enjoyed it so much she went straight back up for another go! She completed the jump in Carnforth, Lancashire, on Bank Holiday Monday.Paula said: “It was amazing, but it was very scary.“I was more scared going up in the air 200ft than actually coming out of the cage.“I cannot explain the feeling, you would only know it if you have done it.“To get the full effects of the day, I completed the jump twice. Once falling forwards out of the cage and the next time backwards.“It was great fun and what a great day to raise a lot of money for charity.”Paula has already raised 400 for The Legacy Rainbow House, which is based in Mawdesley near to where the singer now lives. The charity provides services for children with medical conditions and disabilities. Over the summer she will get out her Amy Winehouse beehive again to raise more funds for Rainbow House by doing a base jump and parachute jump. She is also planning to walk the Great Wall of China next year.People wanting to make a donation to Rainbow House can do so at www.justgiving.com/rainbowhouse or by calling 01704-823276.
Part 1 - The Bungee Jump Completed a personal note.......
yes yes yes....I did it.....It was so scary, (which I think you can tell from my face,) but at the same time amazing. What a buzz. My eye and forehead bruised after I had done it, probably because I did it twice!! And yes the Hair managed to stay intact, only just though! Before I was due to take the plunge I asked the man in the cage with me if I could hold my hair, he of course said "no, but once your out of the cage, do what you like!" So, instead of thinking "oh crap," I was thinking about holding my hands on my heads to keep my hair in place! so there you have it!!!
So role on the next event, which is sky diving, again all proceeds are going to rainbow house. Thanks again for sponsoring me xxxx
